How to install and remove NetVault Plugins
Description

NetVault plugins are used to protect various applications and data stored on the server and client machines. Ensure the availability of business-critical applications such as Oracle, SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Domino, DB2, Informix and SAP with application plugins. Before data can be backed up by NetVault, it is necessary to download and install the application plugin on the NetVault Server or Client.

For troubleshooting purpose, it might be necessary to remove a plugin from the system.
Resolution
Installation of a plugin on the NetVault Server or on a Client
1. From the left navigation pane, select Manage Clients.
2. From the NetVault Clients table, highlight the system where the plugin will be installed and press the [📝Manage] button.
3. At the lower-right corner of the installed plugins table, press the [ + ] button.
4. On the dialogue box, navigate to the folder where the platform-specific .npk file is located and select the desired plugin installation file.
5. Press the [Open] button to install the plugin. Check the displayed message, and install a different package if necessary:
  - ✅[Plugin name] installed successfully
  - ✅[Plugin name] installed successfully. Warning: installed older version of plugin (i.e. 12.x or prior), you need to manual install trial/permanent plugin license on the server.
  - ❌Failed to install software. A newer version of this software is already installed.
  - ❌Failed to install software. Package is not for this OS, it is for HP-UX IA64.
  - ❌Failed to install software. Package is not for this OS, it is for Linux.
  - ❌Failed to install software. Package is not for this OS, it is for Linux IA64.
  - ❌Failed to install software. Package is not for this OS, it is for Solaris.
  - ❌Failed to install software. Package is not for this OS, it is for Windows.
  - ❌Failed to install software. Package is not for pure 64-bit Linux. Please obtain the pure 64-bit version of this package.
  - ❌Failed to install software. Package is not for pure 64-bit Windows. Please obtain the pure 64-bit version of this package.
To Install Plugin using the command line
1. Access the OS command line shell on the system where the plugin will be installed.
2. Copy the plugin locally (e.g. C:\Temp\ in Windows or /tmp/ in Linux).
3. Navigate the bin subdirectory inside the NetVault installation directory. The default path in Windows is C:\Program Files\Quest\NetVault\bin; for Linux it is /usr/netvault/bin
4. Run the command installplugin specifying the full path of the plugin file. For example:
installplugin "C:\Temp\sql-12-2-0-12-WindowsPure64.npk"

Expected outcome are the following

Successfully installed "C:\Temp\sql-12-2-0-12-WindowsPure64.npk"

Failed to install '/tmp/sql-12-2-0-12-WindowsPure64.npk'
Package is not for pure 64-bit Linux. Please obtain the pure 64-bit version of this package

Make sure the package matches the OS and architecture.

Removal of a plugin on the NetVault Backup Server or Client
1. From the left navigation pane, select Manage Clients.
2. From the NetVault Clients table, highlight the system where the plugin will be removed and press the [📝Manage] button.
3. On the table of installed plugins to the right, select the plugin and press the [ - ] button to remove it.
4. In the confirmation dialog box, click the [🗑️Remove] button to proceed with the uninstallation.
