Backup fails with “Error: 2258 - FATAL cifs_cant_mkdir CIFS can't create the directory”
Description

Backups failing with VA VDDK HotAdd and VA LAN based transport. Backup succeeds using vRanger.
Cause

A possible cause to this could be that the Security Protocol set in the repository may have NTMLv2 settings in which it will deny NTLM requests from vRanger.
Another possible cause could be that the firewall is blocking access to the repository.
Resolution

1)       Navigate to my Repositories view.
2)       Right click on Repository in use.
3)       Under Security Protocol drop down tab select NTLMv2.
