Repository cannot be mounted (4037970)

Repository shows unmounted at the core console, and an error similar to the one listed below can be found:

System.Runtime.Serialization.SerializationException: Enum value '0' is invalid for type 'Replay.Core.Contracts.DedupeVolumeManager.WriteCachingPolicy' and cannot be serialized. Ensure that the necessary enum values are present and are marked with EnumMemberAttribute attribute if the type has DataContractAttribute attribute.

The WriteCachingPolicy key value in Windows registry is set to an illegal value.

This key can be found under the Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\AppRecovery\Core\Repositories registry hive.

Allowed values for this key in the registry are usually 2 or 3.

1. Use REGEDIT to set the WriteCachingPolicy value to a valid write caching mode (2 or 3) as informed by the KB reference above.

NOTE: If the repository was expanded, the change also has to be applied to each extent.

2. Restart the core service.
