Backup fails with No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it (4036582)

To see if the above is the case go to Tools -> Options - > Virtual Appliance -> Configuration and check the IP addresses listed for the Virtual Appliances.  If you find one with the IP in question:

1. Check vCenter to see what IP address is actually associated with the Virtual Appliance:
   1. If it is the same as the IP address from the error message, check your environment for duplicate IP address use and resolve this issue.
   2. If it is different from the IP address from the error message use the following steps to remove the Virtual Appliance (VA) and re-add it to vRanger:
      1. Go back to vRanger,  Tools -> Options - > Virtual Appliance -> Configuration.
      2. Locate the VA in question
      3. Check the box next to it and click on the Remove button.
      4. Click OK on the Removing VA screen.
      5. Click OK on the Confirm Delete screen. DO NOT check box for "Delete the virtual appliance from the host".
      6. Click OK on the Configuration Options screen.
      7. Go to My Inventory screen.
      8. Right-click in white area of the left-hand panel and select Refresh Inventory.
      9. Open Tools -> Options - > Virtual Appliance -> Configuration.
      10. Click on the Add button.
      11. Locate the VA and select it.
      12. Enter the Root Password.  By default, this is "vzroot1" without the quotes.
      13. Click OK.
      14. It should now show in the Configuration Options screen with the correct IP address.

You should now be able to run your backup without error.
