Physical backup fails to Data Domain Repository with unable to read or write 2254 error
Description

Backup of a Physical Machine fails to a Data Domain Repository with error like:

Error Message: 2254 - Unable to read or write to the repository. Please ensure permissions are correct
Cause

Data Domain storage can be configured with an access list and if a device attempting to backup to a Data Domain is not on the access list the backups will not be able to work.
Resolution

Since in physical machine backups the machine itself is doing a direct to target backup the physical machine needs to be on the Data Domain access list to be able backup correctly. To correct the issue please add the physical machine to the Data Domain access list.
