Currently, as of September 2014 the support for DR Opdupe plugins is as follows:
NVBU Version | Ships with Plugin Version | Is it required to upgrade the plugin version to match the DR version? | Is it recommended to update to the latest plugin? | Is upgrading to the latest available plugin via web download supported? |
9.2 | 2.1 | No | Yes | Yes - if the plugin version is not newer than the DR version |
10 | 3 | No | Yes* | Yes - if the plugin version is not newer than the DR version |
10.0.1 | 3.1 | No | optional | Yes - if the plugin version is not newer than the DR version |
* There was a "buffer error" fix that would require an update of the NVBU core but not all of the clients.
Thumb rules:
In the case of NVBU Opdupe operations, the DR is backward compatible with the NV plugin that shipped with the version of NV that is being used. In other words, you can update your DR without the need to update the plugin. Refer to the matrix above and in the Interop Guide for recommendations. As of the 3.1 release, NVBU DR plugin support is only available on the web. You can no longer download it from the appliance client tab. Current, if a plugin is not available on the web then we have no released update for that plugin. It is possible that patch builds are available from NVBU support for specific issues. If the issue is widespread, the patch will be released to the web. Additional information: Troubleshooting opdupe related issue can be time consuming. When possible, it is best to have the following items available for escalation. 1) NVBU debug log traces that capture the failure time frame 2) DellDrDiag.exe --collect ; log bundles from all clients / media servers involved 3) DR Bundles from source and target DRs 4) TCPdump traces of the network activity at the time of the failure 5) Screen shots or logs of the backup software's job failures with failure timestamp. |
