1) To troubleshoot this issue, download and install SQL management studio 2008 onto your vranger machine (applies if you are running SQL server 2008, applicable for vranger 6.0 and above):
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/confirmation.aspx?id=22985
2) Once installed, click connect with the default settings (this will default to the vrangerpro db).
3) Expand Security-Logins
Verify the user you are using with vranger is listed here (I’d add in local administrator as well, if you’d like). If you are logged in with an admin account, make sure it is listed here as well. If not in the list, right click on Logins – Click new logins, Click search and type in the account you are using with vranger-click check name to verify.
4) Under Server Roles, make sure public and sysadmin is checked- click okay
5) Under User mapping, check vrangerpro and make sure db-owner and public are checked- click okay.
6) you should now see your user in the list.
7) Next expand Databases- Vrangerpro- Security-Users. Right click on users, click new user and add the same user here as well.
8) User name- type in name of user, click browse and look for your user account you are using with vranger, click okay.
9)default schema-you can select dbo
Schemas owned by user- check db_owner, Database role memberships, check db_owner
10) Start – run- type in services.msc, restart the dell vranger service, and try launching vranger.
