Within Ranger through the My Inventory window you should see your virtual center listed in the tree below, to validate the account that is used you can:
1. Right click your virtual center
2. Choose Credential Properties
This will show you the credential that is used to authenticate the virtual center to Ranger, this is also the account that will be used to issue commands to the virtual center via Ranger. If this account is not a member of the domain admins group in AD and has limited functionality inside the virtual center one or more permissions is missing from the recommended permissions list(s). These lists can be found in the following locations:
ESXi 5.1 : https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?id=SOL102438
ESXi 5.0 : https://support.quest.com/SolutionDetail.aspx?ID=102435
If you are confident that the permissions are correct yet the problem persists, go back into Credential Properties in Ranger and change the account used for virtual center permissions to one with domain admin permissions in order to test. Once the credential is provided and the inventory refreshed, rerun the job. If the job completes, or at least runs long enough to create the replica VM and assign it resources, you'll know that one or more permissions is missing from the other credential that you were using.
