ESXi Virtual Export Fails with a Licensing Error
Description

When attempting to perform a virtual export on ESXi, the job fails with the following error:
Vddk Api Open Failed Exception: Opération ‘Open’ avec connection = ‘Connection 0×541693136′ path = ‘[pcc-003549] TEST-EXPORT/disk0.vmdk’ openFlags = ‘VIXDISKLIBFLAGNONE’Failed with Replay.Common.VddkApi.Contracts.Exceptions.VddkApiException : The host is not licensed for this feature
Vddk Api Exception: The host is not licensed for this feature
This error appears when the account used to perform the virtual export lacks sufficient administrator rights to vCenter or root access to the ESXi host.
Resolution

Verify that the vSphere environment is fully licensed (Essentials and above). The free version does not unlock the proper APIs that allow virtual exports to function. Also verify that the account being used has proper administrative rights or root access to the vCenter/ESXi environment.
