There're are three different approaches that can be taken when a BAD Media is present:
A. Tape Drive is dirty:
1. Ensure the cleaning tape has uses left or if it's near its end open a new one.
2. Clean the tape drive(s) at least three times.
3. Re-scan Media.
B. Remove the media from NetVault Database and rescan it. This can be done through the following steps:
1. Through NetVault WebUI, open the library door, physically remove the BAD media, close the library door.
2. Go to Explore Storage -> Tape & VTL Storage -> select the BAD media and "Explore Media" -> select "Remove".
3. Through NetVault WebUI, open the library door, physically add back the BAD media, close the library door.
4. Rescan the BAD media twice and confirm if the problem persists.
C. Confirm if the Media is defective. Most drive manufacturers have their own tool for testing the drives (and tapes while on it), without the need of a backup software.
