Manual install of physical agent -
Description
You can't install the physical agent on a physical or virtual server through the vRanger GUI. -
Cause
The primary reason for the issue is permissions. But there can be others as well. -
Resolution
Please follow the steps below to deploy a physical machine agent manually.
1. Copy the file "C:\Program Files (x86)\Quest Software\vRanger\Service\vRangerphysicalclient.exe" to the physical server.
2. With admin credentials, run the following command. WITH the "" around the parameters.
a. To accept the defaults, you must only provide credentials for the source server: vRangerPhysicalClient.exe /USERNAME="administrator" /PASSWORD="Password1"
b. You may also use a domain account:
vRangerPhysicalClient.exe /DOMAIN="development" /USERNAME="user1" /PASSWORD="Password1"3. When you hit enter and run the comman it will just go back to a cmd prompt when done.
4. Look in "..Program files\Quest software\vRangerphysicalclient\" you should see all the files and you can look in the install log for the timestamp of installation.
5. You can also check for the service, 'Quest Physical Client Service' and make sure it is started and using the correct credentials.
6. Now that the agent has been deployed you can attempt a vRanger backup of the physical machine.
