In some environments Vmover is being deployed via users login script and a new Vmover.ini needs to be generated daily?
Is there a way to automate this procedure?
QMM does not offer a possibility to create a Vmover.ini file automatically, such a file needs to be exported manually.
Knowing how RUM works some of the features could be used to accomplish this.
One of the interesting features is the scheduling option in RUM, after you click "Start" instead of selecting "start now" you can specify "start at..." and this will create a task, task will start at time specified and it will create a new INI.
The task will be a regular MS task, you will find it when you go to Control Panel - Scheduled Tasks.
Find the task, switch to "show multiple values" or to configure it to run daily.
This workaround would be not officially supported, but can be used to create a new Vmover.ini daily automatically.
Note: Scheduled task will need to start before it can create the Vmover.ini file, this means the selected computer will be processed. The procedure is harmless, computer can be processed daily, but it is advisable to select one of the "non-important" computers, preferably a test workstation, which could be a virtual machine.
Then a batch file can be created to move-copy the vmover.ini to the new location daily.
Important: this article is applicable ony to older RUM versions.
