We cant get into the web console UI. By going into the Linux shell and running commands, we see that the appliance has run out of disk space.
Software Bug CR0230198.Files in a temporary directory that is often accessed dontget cleared out properly. Likely your system ismaking several HTTP requests a minute, perhaps as a sort of system heartbeat. Every login writesout the user name to small cookie file. This gradually filled up the /home/www/tmp directory with temporary files. This fills up the Datastore partition--preventing it from storing any new data to the database. This bug can also preventyou fromaccessing the system from the web console UI because there may not be enough room left even towrite out that small cookie file that needs to be created at your login. This bug doesntcrash the appliance, though its effects are similar.
1. Login to the shell
2. vi /usr/local/ecrit/clearoldfiles.bat
3. Modify line 13 to include -maxdepth 2. So the existing entry looks like:
clearOldFiles $WEBTMP_DIR -mtime +1
and should be modified to:
clearOldFiles $WEBTMP_DIR -maxdepth 2 -mtime +1
4.Run the following command to start clearing out the old files:
This will slowly clear out the files. The system should be up and running in 15-30 minutes.
A good idea would be to set an Alarmto let you know if the Data Store Partition Usagehealth metricgets beyond a certain percentage full, say at an 80% threshold. It includes the datastore and other things like the www tmp files.
Issue fixed in version of Foglight Experience Monitor
