I've set up my FxM appliance, and am attempting to autodetect protocols and servers to set up my ports and server listing correctly.
Nothing appears in the autodetection.
I can verify that traffic is being seen on the Monitor Port via the console setup program, or Support Tools web interface.
Your network is using 802.1q VLAN functionality, but the appliance is not set up to monitor this. Or vice versa--your network is not using 802.1q VLAN functionality, but the appliance is configured to monitor for this.
When FxM autodetects protocols and servers, we specify the exact size of packet to filter from tcpdump. Using the 802.1q protocol adds bytes to the packet size, so the appliance will not see them.
From the console setup utility, select the Network Configuration option, and then the option marked "Monitor 802.1q (VLAN trunk)". If it is already on, toggle it to off. Autodetection should now work.
(Note: The use of 802.1q can be confirmed by examining a tcpdump file from Ethereal/Wireshark and checking that the packet has a 802.1q field).
