Forest Recovery for DC Fails with The site name is not valid
Description
During forest recovery, any DC’s set to “Reinstall Active Directory” that were moved into a site which was created after the RMAD Backup(s) used for forest recovery, will fail with “The site name is not valid” during the “Reinstall Active Directory Domain Services” step.
Resolution
WORKAROUND:
Create a copy of the FR Project file that has the old site information and use it to restore if the site information needs to be reverted.
If a restore is needed, and the site information does not need to be reverted, then using a current FR project with a current backup (one that was created after the DC was moved) would allow the restore to complete
