There may be a need to unstrip, unstub, rebuild, reconstitute, export, reconstruct or put stripped messages from Archive Manager database back to Exchange Mailbox(es).
Archive Manager is able to unstrip stripped messages from mailboxes starting version 4.0.5
Before going through the steps below, the Mailbox which will be rebuilt should be removed from any Strip policy via the Archive Manager website or mailbox management must be disabled (remove the check box beside Enable Store Manager).
1. Double-Click each message in turn which you would like to have unstubbed. This will force the message to be rebuilt back to the mailbox in Exchange and will return the Message Class to IPM.Note. This is not a solution that can be used on a large scale unstripping, only for certain messages.
Note: You should not have Archive Manager Offline Client installed on the machine.
Archive Manager version 4.0.5 and higher has ability to unstrip whole mailbox by means of using Exchange Utility.exe which is by default located under X:\Program Files\Quest Software\ArchiveManager folder. Where X: is a drive where AM was installed.
No access rights need to be changed on the mailbox to reconstruct its content. The account running Exchange Utility should have have Receive-As mailbox permission on the mailbox to be able to replace its content. This is usually ArchiveMgr_ESM user.
Use Run-As on the Exchange Utility.exe to run under the ArchiveMgr_ESM account.
To reconstruct stripped messages, complete the following steps:
A progress screen displays to show the status of the message reconstruction. Each mailbox is unchecked after it has been processed. For more info please refer to Quest ArchiveManager Admin Guide.
If you are using Archive Manager version 4.4.2 to 4.6.1 and you have a multi domain environment you will need to contact Quest Support to receive a stand-along version of the Exchange Utility.
