When attempting to connect to the SharePoint front end server running Doc Retriever Service 5.4.3, 6.0.1, or 6.0.2 using DocRetriever Console 5.4.3, 6.0.1, or 6.0.2, connection fails immediately.
Doc Retriever Console error:
"System.ServiceModel.CommunicationException: The socket connection was aborted. This could be caused by an error processing your message or a receive timeout being exceeded by the remote host, or an underlying network resource issue. Local socket timeout was '00:10:00'. ---> System.Net.Sockets.SocketException: An existing connection was forcibly closed by the remote host
The issue is caused by the certificate that is used for communication between the Doc Retriever Console and Doc Retriever Service. This issue specifically applies to the Doc Retriever Consoles older than 6.1 running on Windows Server 2012 R2. Originally, AppAssure and Rapid Recovery certificates was using a MD5 hash which is restricted in Windows Server 2012 R2.
The issue is resolved in version 6.1.1. The latest version of Rapid Recovery can be downloaded from the Download Page here.
