SRM Web Sevice will not Uninstall - Windows Error 1001 -
Description
When uninstalling any DL Appliance application, sometimes the uninstaller will complete with error 1001.
Error 1001. An exception occurred while uninstalling. This exception will be ignored and the uninstall will continue. However, the application might not be fully uninstalled after the uninstall is complete. --> The specified service does not exist as an installed service.
This can prevent that application from being re-installed successfully when the Recovery and Update Utility is run again. -
Resolution
The Microsoft FixIt Program Install and Uninstall utility can detect issues that block program installation/removal caused by corrupted registry keys. To download and run this utility, please complete the following steps:
- Go to: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/Program_Install_and_Uninstall
- Click the Run Now button as this will download the executable
- Run the executable as administrator
- Accept the license agreement
- It will download additional files and then present a new window
- Click on "Detect problems and let me select the fixes to apply"
- Click "Uninstalling"
- After the scan completes you should see the program you are trying to uninstall listed, select it
- In this case, click on "Dell Storage Management Web Service"
- Next
- Click "Yes, try uninstall"
- You will be prompted to select the fixes to apply
- By default it should already have "Cannot install or uninstall a program" and "Uninstall and cleanup?" selected
- Next
- The utility will attempt to uninstall the application
- Once it completes it will show the results
- You can click on view report details for more information
- You will be prompted if it was able to resolve the issue
- Select the appropriate response
- Next
- Close the utility
- Re-run the Recovery and Update Utility to reinstall the Dell Storage Management Web Service.
