WindowsAgent is not collecting most data. Queries executed by WindowsAgent for Windows 2012 host fail and WMI queries run from wbemtest don't return output. -
Description
The WindowsAgent is not collecting most of the data. The debug WindowsAgent log shows that many queries are failing with messages like the following:.2015-02-18 16:15:52.631 ECHO DEBUG [Quartz[0]-18744] com.quest.glue.core.remoteconnection.WMIUtils - The remote system has indicated that the query "select SystemUpTime from Win32_PerfFormattedData_PerfOS_System" has failed, no results will be returned.com.quest.glue.api.services.QueryFailedException: The WS-Management service cannot complete the operation within the time specified in OperationTimeout.....The WindowsAgent log reported that the following queries failed:________________select SystemUpTime from Win32_PerfFormattedData_PerfOS_SystemSelect ProcessorQueueLength From Win32_PerfRawData_PerfOS_SystemSelect Name, PercentProcessorTime From Win32_PerfFormattedData_PerfProc_Process Where PercentProcessorTime > 0SELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfOS_SystemSELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfOS_ProcessorSELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfOS_MemorySELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfOS_PagingFile WHERE Name='_Total'SELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_Tcpip_NetworkInterfaceSELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfDisk_PhysicalDisk WHERE Name != '_Total'SELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfDisk_LogicalDisk WHERE Name != '_Total'SELECT * FROM Win32_PerfRawData_PerfProc_Process WHERE Name != '_Total' and Name != 'Idle'________________.The queries don't return output when run from wbemtest on the monitored host..A query that is not related to the performance counters returned successfully from wbemtest.Select * from WIN32_OperatingSystem.Perfmon took a long time to load. Disk Quey Length\Network Interface(*)\Bytes Total/sec________________.Many of the counters that are typically available were not listed (Memory, Logical Disk, Physical Disk). -
Cause
The performance counters were corrupted. -
Resolution
WORKAROUND:Rebuild the Performance Counters with the "lodctr /r" command as described in Microsoft TechNet article 19374. -
Additional Information
Rebuilding the counters:
cd c:\windows\system32
lodctr /R
cd c:\windows\sysWOW64
lodctr /RResyncing the counters with Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI):
WINMGMT.EXE /RESYNCPERFStop and restart the Performance Logs and Alerts service.
Stop and restart the Windows Management Instrumentation service.
