The “Topas” command in AIX used to display the selected statistics about an OS host don’t reflect the same values as in the DB2 agent.
The Db2sysc process shows CPU 40.7% and PgSP 1577.4
CPU for the User is 68%, Kernel 6.0%, Wait 5.3%, Idle 20.7% (Total 100%); Physc 3.69 Entc 92.3%
Memory Real,MB 22528, % Comp 90, % Noncomp 9, % Client 9
Topas shows the DB2 process is 40% of CPU, but the agent has the amount of CPU utilized by only DB2 processes is 10% of the total figure (total CPU utilization is 65%)
- Customer said there are two CPUs with 4 cores each, the vmstat shows 16 logical cpus
- On many monitors, the CPU for db2sysc will show the percent of one CPU core, not the entire machine.
