In this scenario, the protected machine/agent is configured for Virtual Standby. The same scenario applies when the machine is exported to Hyper-V or VMware one time only and not via Virtual Standby.
The Maximum Disk Size shown on the virtual machine host equals the total size of the disk on the protected machine instead of the total size of the partition or the particular volume being exported to Hyper-V or VMware.
For example, the C drive partition on the protected machine is 100GB in size. The total disk size however, is 2TB. The "Maximum Disk Size" shown on the Hyper-V or VMware host shows as being 2TB even if the "Current File Size" equals the amount of space currently being used.
The reason for this behavior is due to the AppAssure agent being able to capture the entire disk's geometry.
The disk geometry includes all of the partitions present on the disk as well as the unpartitioned space, not only the individual volumes/partitions.
