In addition to the standard logging, there are some additional debug logs that can be enabled on a K1000 client machine. KACE Technical Support uses this to troubleshoot Managed Installs, Patching, Scripting, and Provisioning issues.
Note: This article does NOT apply to versions 7.0.x and above, as debugging is now enabled by default and it is not possible enable/disable from a command.
Amp.conf/log file locations:
Open an administrative command prompt to c:\program files\dell\kace (note: 32-bit program files).
Gather the following files and create a zip file (example: computer1_2012-08-13.zip):
ProgramData\Dell\Kace\User is the directory.
sudo nano /Library/Application\Support/Dell/KACE/data/auto_amp.conf Add debug=true at the bottom of the file.
sudo /Library/Application\ Support/Dell/KACE/bin/AMPCtl stop
sudo /Library/Application\ Support/Dell/KACE/bin/AMPCtl start
The log files at /Library/Application\Support/Dell/KACE/data will now have debug info.
The log files at /Library/Application/Support/Dell/KACE/data will now have debug info.
Add the zip file to your Trouble ticket when requested by KACE Technical Support.
