Do you see below error on the FMS server logs:
ERROR [Data-3-thread-1556231] com.quest.nitro.service.topology.TopologyService - Failed to create a topology object with name VMWSnapshot: {managedObjectReference=snapshot-248494, virtualMachine=bccc4b81-6eab-421b-b766-140d1f2aeec9}: com.quest.nitro.service.sl.interfaces.topology.TopologyChangeVetoException: The configured limit of 20000 instances of type VMWSnapshot has been reached.
You may have stale snapshots that have filled up the database allotment for snapshots.
Go to Vmware environment -> Administration Tab -> Review Instances & Limits.
Look for the Instance count, utilized column for VMWSnapshot & VMWSnapshot folder.
If it shows either nearly 100% or nearly 20,000 instance count, then you'll see this issue with Open snapshots report being empty.
WORKAROUND:
Please run the attached groovy to clean up the stale snapshots.
Dashboards | Administration | Tooling -> Script Console -> Click Add under Scripts Tab.
Copy & paste it on the pop-up window -> Click Run
When you run the script for first time, it'll give the number of snapshots in your server.
Second time, you need to change the below part on the script, before you Click Run. (To delete the stale objects)
// USER DEFINED VARIABLES
def doDelete = 'n' // set this to 'y' when ready to delete snapshot and related objects
to
// USER DEFINED VARIABLES
def doDelete = 'y' // set this to 'y' when ready to delete snapshot and related objects
IMPORTANT: If the script output is blank, it means there's no stale object to delete for that number of days. (Keep changing the number of days, accordingly)
The script deletes Snapshot objects from the Foglight database only and not in the vCenter itself.
