In this What's New in 10.0 video, we will cover the new and improved Patch Management feature of the KACE Systems Management Appliance or SMA.
Nearly all of the patching improvements in 10.0 are "under-the-hood", but there are a few differences in the UI - which we will see in this video.
You may not have been aware, but in all previous versions, KACE has utilized a 3rd-party patch feed to supply patches to the SMA. Starting with version 10.0, we are replacing this feed with the new KACE Patch Catalog.
Changing the way the KACE SMA patch catalog is updated and maintained will provide distinct advantages to you. Patches will be available to you faster than the method used in prior versions. The KACE Patch Catalog also includes more publishers and products - providing a wider catalog of patches to choose from than ever before.
When working with the new version for the first time, please note that the initial catalog download may take longer than you are used to. However, once the initial patches have been downloaded and you adhere to best practices - as outlined by this video - subsequent patching performance should be improved.
Though the appliance supports the patching of servers, desktops, laptops, and tablets - whether they run Windows or Mac OS - this video will focus on Windows computers. To start with, we'll overview the Patch Management Best-Practices.
