We just applied our permanent license in Toad for DB2 using the Help | Licensing window. However, when I reopened Toad, I saw two Tabs : 1 for Trial and the other for Permanent. So, I don't know which one is working as the Trial is still valid.
Can you tell us how to remove the Trial license tab?
RESOLUTION 1:
If one would like to rid the trial key before its expiration date:
1. From the main menu, go to View | Licensing .
2. There should be at least two licensing tabs.
3. Determine the tab that has the trial key.
4. Click on the 'Delete License' link.
The commercial license key will remain and will be the only key authorizing the product.
RESOLUTION 2:
On Windows 7, try right-clicking on the Toad icon and select "Run as administrator" and then try registering Toad by going to Help | Licensing
RESOLUTION 3:
Both of these keys are saved in the ProductLicenses.xml file, located in the C:\Users\<User>\AppData\Local\{xxx-xxx-xxx} directory. The {xxx-xxx-xxx} folder is generated different on every machine; hence the actual name is changes. However, it will be a long alphanumeric string surrounded by { }. If you open the ProductLicenses.xml file with notepad and remove the lines pertaining to your trial key, this will stop it from displaying in Toad’s license window.
1. On Windows XP go to C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Quest Software\Toad for DB2 5.x
2. Open license.key with Notepad
3. Edit it with your commercial license key
On Windows Vista and 7 the location is C:ProgramData\Quest Software\Toad for DB2 5.x
RESOLUTION 4:
1. Go to Start | Run (or Start | Search for Windows Vista and 7) and type in 'REGEDIT'
2. Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER | SOFTWARE | Quest Software | Toad for DB2 | 5.X
3. On the right-hand-side look for 'Edition' string value
4. If the value says 'Toad for DB2 Trial, right-click and choose 'Modify'
5. Remove the 'Trial' entry
6. Try registering Toad again
