On the “SQL Server Installation Options” step of the Setup Wizard that installs Recovery Manager for Active Directory or Recovery Manager for Active Directory Forest Edition, you may encounter the following issue:
The option named “Install SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition on this computer” actually installs Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition.
Due to technical restrictions, the Recovery Manager for AD Setup program cannot install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition on a Windows 8 or Windows Server 2012-based computer.
In order to provide support for Windows 8 and Windows Server 2012 (and to keep support for earlier versions of the Windows operating system), the Recovery Manager for AD Setup program was changed to install Microsoft SQL Server 2008 Express Edition rather than Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition. However, the texts in the Setup Wizard were not updated and erroneously mention Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition.
