Upgrading NetVault Backup 9.2 to the 10 version failed with a 'The folder path 'NetVault/db' contains an invalid character' error.
説明
Since NVBU 10.x is a completely new software and now has a PostgreSQL NVDB, you have to make sure that all the pre and post installation steps have been performed, otherwise NVBU will not function correctly. The NVBU 10 Installation Users Guide is on the following link:
The following pre and post steps were performed, but unfortunately didn't resolve the issue:
1] Make sure that all relevant prerequisites have been perform from section Chapter 3 (pages 15-17) of the NVBU 10.0.1 Installation Guide. 2] Make sure that all platform specific requirements are also done from section Chapter 3 (pages 17-21) of the NVBU 10.0.1 Installation Guide. 3] Make sure that all relevant platform specific post installation requirements are done in Chapter 6 of the NVBU 10.0.1 Installation Guide (Pages 40-42).
Whilst logged in as a Domain Administrator and the AntiVirus Software was disabled, the upgrade from NVBU 9.2 to the 10 version failed with the following error message:
The folder path 'NetVault/db' contains an invalid character.
The NetVault logs shows the following error:

Which confirms the original error:
The folder path 'NetVault/db' contains an invalid character.
対策
NOTE: Page 14 of the NVBU 10 Installation Guide advises the following, as the NVDB is no longer a flat file database, but a PostgreSQL database:
During installation, the NetVault Backup Server and Client machines are assigned a name and password.
• NetVault Backup name – The NetVault Backup name is used to identify the server and client machines in a NetVault Backup Domain. By default, NetVault Backup uses the OS-assigned name of the machine. The NetVault Database is tied to the NetVault Backup Server through its name. While relocating a server, a backup of the NetVault Database is used to recover the system after installing the NetVault Backup software on the new machine. Therefore, we recommend that you do not use the OS-assigned name for the NetVault Backup Server. The NetVault Backup name can contain a maximum of 63 characters. If the name is longer than 63 characters, the NetVault Backup Service may fail to start. The NetVault Backup names can include uppercase letters (A–Z), lowercase letters (a–z), and numbers (0–9). Some features may not function properly if you include the following characters: ! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) : - Japanese, Korean, or Chinese characters.
• NetVault Backup passwords – The NetVault Backup passwords are used while adding a client to the server. The password can contain a maximum of 100 characters. It cannot contain the following characters: < > & # |
We checked the NetVault Server and Client names and all had letters and numbers. A NetVault User did have a “$” symbol in the password and was removed i.e. changed the password, but to no avail.
In this instance the issue was resolved by performing the following steps:
1] Stop the NetVault Services in the Configurator > Service tab. 2] Go to the …\NetVault\config directory and edit the configure.cfg file. Find the following section:
[Directories:Database] Type=String Width=32 Label=Database Directory Label Id=5965 Help=Directory in which to place Netvault's on-line database Help Id=0 reset=process manager Value=C:\BakBone\NetVault/db
3] Then change the last line to the following, as the "/" on the above path was incorrect:
Value=C:\BakBone\NetVault\db
4] Start the NetVault Services. 5] Then run the upgrade again.
