Following upgrade to NVBU 11.1 and Plug-in for VMware 11.1, restoring VMs to alternate ESXi host no longer works.
The restore job fails immediately with:
"Failed to login to target server '<IP>' "
Context:
Cannot complete login due to an incorrect user name or password.
However the user name is root and the password correctly entered.
The same password allows for successful connections via SSH and vSphere Web Client to the ESXi host.
When reviewing the ESXi hostd.log we can see the failed login attempt as follows:
WORKAROUND:
Please change the target ESXi password to be as simple as possible and try the restore job again. Once the required restore has completed successfully, the password can then be changed back to a more complex one.
STATUS:
This issue will be fixed in a future version of Plug-in for VMware.
