How to create backup templates and deploy them.

Please see the video below to create and deploy backup templates in the new 7.1 version of NetVault LiteSpeed for SQL Server.

How to create a backup template:

To create a backup template select the Backup Manager pane and click on the Backup Templates tab.

1. Provide a template name
2. You can specifiy a custom backup name and description.
3. Select your databases to backup  The custom Database option allows you to specify individual databases for each instance at deployment time.  Regular expression option limits your deployment as a maintenance plan. Wildcards option is supported by both maintenance plans and jobs.
4. If you specify a backup destination in a template, you can override backup destinations for each instance at deployment time.
5. Backup options will be checked according to your requirements.  please see the help for specific details about each option.
6. Set compression and Encyrption options.  Adaptive compression is only available with LiteSPeed 6.5 or later.  Please remember higher compression levels result in smaller backups but they also take longer and use more resources to complete.  Please see the help for more info.
7. Set your backup schedule as you see fit.
8. Configure your notification options.
9. Specify your T-log backup schedule as you see fit. 
10. Specify your cleanup options.
11. Complete the wizard.  Click finish.

You have now created a backup template.

To deploy your newly created backup template

1. Select the Backup manager pane
2. In the Backup Templates tab click deploy
3. Select your template 
4. Select your instances and databases
5. Select your backup location since that option was chosen earlier.
       Choose your folder location 
6. Deployment type.  You can choose if you want the backup template to be a Job or maintenance plan. 
7. You have now deployed your newly created backup template to your instance.
