Having Toad Data Point opened, when switching between programs, it takes several seconds (20-60) to activate the Toad Data Point window.
Example: select MS Excel then click on the Toad Data Point windows.
- Corruption files.
- Network issues.
- External program affecting Toad.
WORKAROUND 1: Upgrade Toad Data Point to the latest release.
If the issue occurs with a previous version of Toad, install a new release of Toad. Download the latest release here.
WORKAROUND 2: Rename all the settings folder of Toad Data Point existing in the computer.
1) Close Toad Data Point.
2) Open C:\Users\<<YOUR USERNAME>>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software
3) For all the folders of Toad Data Point, rename it with the .old extension
Example: Toad Data Point 4.0.old.
4) Launch Toad Data Point.
Note: You will not see the connections.
5) Close Toad again, and bring back your connections.
6) Open C:\Users\<<YOUR USERNAME>>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad Data Point 4.0.old folder
7) Do a copy of the Connections.xml file
8) Open the new generated folder C:\Users\<<YOUR USERNAME>>\AppData\Roaming\Quest Software\Toad Data Point 4.0
9) Paste and replace the Connections.xml file.
WORKAROUND 3: Move UAC slider to lowest setting in Windows.
For Windows 7:
1) Go to Windows Start menu | under the Search field | type: UAC.
2) Move the slider bar to the lowest (disable notifications or never notify).
3) Restart computer.
WORKAROUND 4: Turn off the antivirus or any external program that might be affecting Toad.
WORKAROUND 5: Adjust the performance of the computer:
1) My Computer | right click | properties.
2) Click on Advanced system settings | Advanced tab | Performance section.
3) Click on Settings button.
4) On Visual Effects tab, select "Adjust for best performance".
WORKAROUND 6: Work with local files instead of network files.
If the roaming folder points to a remote folder, or if any of the files are saved in a network location, save those in a local drive and test again.
