Toad adds *.quest.com *.toadsoft.com in Proxy Server | Exceptions list, and now my IE web browser cannot access those sites.
Here's the prmpt from Toad:
Warning: Proxy Exists
A proxy server is enabled for this computer, but the default Toad sites are not listed in the proxy exception list.
Would you like Toad to automatically add these sites to the exception list?
To fix the problem, manually remove the “*.quest.com” and “*.toadsoft.com” entries from the Internet Options | Connections | LAN Settings | Advanced | Exceptions list box.
For companies that have Proxy Servers set, Toad offers to add the mentioned web extensions to the exception list. This should allow users to have access to mentioned sites. However, if you already have access to the sites without adding them, please choose NO to the prompt.
It would be difficult to tell why when the web site extensions are added to the exception list, you could no longer access them as it would be in your internal network that the setting affects. Please consult with your internal IT people to see if there's something in your proxy as the only thing that Toad does is really just add the mentioned web extensions in the Internet Options | Proxy Server exceptions list. However, either way, it seems like a pretty simple solution to just say NO on the prompt.
The Developers further confirmed that Toad will not be affected by this setting, other than when they see a link like in Help/Toad Online/Online resources. But again, if you can already get to it, then it's just a matter of saying NO at the prompt.
The prompt is a convenience for people that cannot normally access those sites. In this case, it just so happens it reverses it.
