Description:
This error occurs running the command line by hand ("cmd session" in Windows) or trying it with a pre-script in a backup job. This prompts the error: "Failed to start a CLI session"
Symptoms:
Logs will indicate the Informational message error: "Information 29.06.2006 11:15 238 Data Plugin <servername> Failed to start a CLI session - Failed to get connect or error message"
It appears that the login is incorrect for the attempted use of the CLI commands.
If the machine you are running these commands on is Linux or UNIX you need to be "root". Meaning the NetVault processes need to be running as "root". No other user will work.
If the machine you are running these commands on is Windows, the login must be "Administrator". Meaning the Netvault processes need to be running as "Administrator". No other user will work.

(password should have nothing after it)
"env" command should show all of your environmental variables.
You will need to change the environmental variables to what ever username and password you use to log into the Netvault GUI.
