Description: To restore an Oracle database to a different Oracle server using the Oracle Online plugin.
Pre-requisites:
- same operating system
- same version of Oracle
- identical file system layout for the Oracle database files and installation.
Creating a version of the original instance with the same parameters:
[1] generate a successful complete backup of your Oracle source database
[2] create an identical filesystem layout on the target client machine
[3] install the same version of Oracle RDBMS
[4] create an Oracle instance with the same name i.e. ORACLE_HOME etc on the target machine
[5] install the NetVault client & Oracle APM software & configure
[6] shutdown the target Oracle database on the target client
[7] perform an Oracle plugin restore targeting the client
[8] perform an Oracle database recovery using the newly restored files
