VM is most likely not communicating correctly with the Host or Virtual Center
vMotion the VM to another Host and run the backup job again.
You can vMotion the VM back to the original Host if needed.
Another way to accomplish the same results is to unregister and re-register the VM, but that's more intrusive to the clients of the VM.
