How do I install the Knowledge Portal on a separate machine from the InTrust suite? How do I get InTrust Manager to see the Knowledge Portal location?
During the install of InTrust the installer assumes that you will install the Knowledge Portal on the same machine as InTrust itself. It is not necessarily clear on the process to install the Knowledge Portal on a different machine.
1. On the machine that has SQL and SQL Reporting Services, run http://machinename/reports to verify that SRS is working correctly
2. Run the autorun.exe and choose InTrust Knowledge Portal under Data View applications
3. After that has completed, install InTrust on the other machine (deselect Knowledge Portal) and point to the SQL machine from step 1 for both the ReportingServices and KnowledgePortal entries (N.B. the screen says ITReporting but ITKnowledge is the default from step 2)
4. Confirm that you can browse these reports within InTrust Manager | Reports and from http://machinename/ITKnowledge. If you had already install InTrust before reading this solution you can right click on the Reports module and change the entries so they point to the values from step 2.
Note: Step 2 and 3 can be interchangeable, meaning that InTrust can be installed first and Knowledge Portal can be installed afterwards. When Knowledge Portal is installed before InTrust Server, you will need to re-configure Knowledge Portal in InTrust manager to point to SRS and configure the data sources in Knowledge Portal to point to the correct databases.
This affects InTrust 9.5 and newer
