FLR of save point or manifest from a linux samba share fails with error: mount failed.
Error in Windows event viewer under applications and services, vRanger Service you will see the error:
Log Name: Application

Event ID: 0
Task Category: None
Level: Error
Keywords: Classic
User: N/A
Computer: VRANGER.company.org
Description:
FATAL cifs_cant_use CIFS cannot connect to share (localhost;vranger@172.21.1.133/vRanger/virtual machine.beefnet.org_564d77b8-1662-5833-0217-8a0654bce4ec\virtual machine.company.org_20120207_204443_432b0be4-8b6f-40b0-8415-646f84dc24ac/c5/2b) [at do_cifs_mount:142]
This can be due, most of the time, to the security settings configured for the share in the samba.conf file on the linux machine hosting the share.
One way to fix is to fully open up share. The following is an example of one cofiguration that will cause this error. The second example shows changes that need to be made in one instance.
share configuration in samba.conf causing failure:
#Share for vRanger Backups from cluster
[vRanger]
comment = vRanger Backup Path
path = /Backups
public = no
writable = yes
printable = no
write list = vranger
Location to samba share /etc/samba
Share configuration in samba.config after chages to get FLR working:
#Share for vRanger Backups from the cluster
[vRanger]
comment = vRanger Backup Path
path = /Backups
public = yes
writable = yes
printable = no
readable = yes
guest ok = yes
browseable = yes
In order for the config to take effect, You may need to restart the vRanger service / vRanger FLR service or restart the vRanger server.
