For some connections in Spotligth on Windows, there is a warning information icon that show that the disks of the host failed, which it is wrong since these disks are fine. The triangle warning icons disappear and then come back...

We see this on Windows XP clients which are monitoring larger systems (with large disks) and the large numbers returned cause this "catastrophic failure" message.
So you have 2 options:
* put up with the intermittent error appearing until next version of Spotlight, or
* use a Window 7 client PC to monitor the servers
