When attempting to restore an Exchange 2010 DAG backup that was created with NetBackup 7.1.0.1, 7.1.0.2, or 7.1.0.3 to Recovery Manager for Exchange via the Emulation method, this error is displayed: "Exit Status 185: tar did not find all the files to be restored"
There is a known issue when using Netbackup 7.1.0.1-7.1.0.3 to perform a redirected restore to Recovery Manager for Exchange – it is unable to restore Exchange 2010 databases if the target machine doesn’t have disk volume(s) with the same drive letters as the volumes with backed up databases on an original Exchange server.
Example: If attempting to restore a backup with a database E:\Databases 1\Users1.edb and logs from L:\Logs – than the target Recovery Manager for Exchange machine should have drives with E: and L: letters.
Create drive letters on the Recovery Manager for Exchange server that mimic the drive letters of the original Exchange server using one of the following methods:
1 - Add two new physical disks or virtual disks using the same E: and L: drive letters.
2 - Create 2 small disk volumes using the same drive letters:
Run Disk Managemnet snapin
Shrink any existing volume by a few GB
Create two volumes in that available space and assign them E: and L: letters
3 - Launch Command Prompt under the same account that is used to run Netbackup Client Service and type the commands:
subst E: "D:\Recovery Manager Sources"
subst L: "D:\Recovery Manager Sources"Use a method above that works in your environment and then attempt the redirected restore again.
You may need to restart the NetBackup services on the Recovery Manager for Exchange machine after creating the appropriate drives.
If the above does not resolve the error then you may need to downgrade the NetBackup client version on the Recovery Manager for Exchange server to 7.1.0
