Rule VMW Distributed Virtual Port Group Available Ports should not fire for Elastic port but when allocation is fixed it should fire it

Rule VMW Distributed Virtual Port Group Available Ports should not fire for Elastic port but when allocation is fixed it should fire i.

The following logic should be added to the rule condition:

If the port allocation is elastic, do not fire this rule.
If the port allocation is fixed, fire the rule.

This is a known enhancement request in Foglight referenced by Tracking ID VM-6518

 

This is referring to changing the rule condition of: "VMW Distributed Virtual Port Group".

Important note: Please make a copy of the original rule and work on the copy.

1). Check the following under:

Administration │ Rules & Notifications │ Rules
Create a copy of "VMW Distributed Virtual Port Group" and disable the original rule.

2). Edit the copy and go under "Condition & Actions" tab, then locate "Fatal","Critical" and "Warning" conditions and apply the following changes:

Here are the new conditions. One for Fatal and one for Critical/Warning:

Fatal/ Critical/Warning: add below before the original condition:

if(scope.autoExpand || scope.type=="ephemeral"){
return false;
}

 

This is one example of the change:

Note 1: This will make the rule to evaluate the conditions that you previously exposed, which were not included on the original rule.
Note 2: autoExpand is the configuration for elastic.



Enhancement request VM-6518 has been submitted to Development for a fix in a future release.  Please check the release notes of latest software to determine which bug fixes have been included in this release.
