When starting NetVault SmartDisk, the service starts, but the stops immediately.
Checking trace files, the PercolatorSlave trace file in foundation/trace shows
0 LOCALMSG 109 1307968220674247 Start of Day process 'logd' exited unexpectedly
and the logd trace shows
0 LOGD 11 1307966016035164 Failed to open the application event log: error code 5:Access is denied.
0 LOGD 4 1307966016037664 Failed to Initialise
In order for the non-privileged user running SmartDisk to have access to the Windows Application Event logs, the SmartDisk postinstall.sh script runs a tool called logdregupd in order to update the Windows registry to allow access.
