Description

Dell.AM.Retention.BusinessLayer.RetentionEngineException: Cannot write to RetentionActionLog ---> System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. ---> System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception: The wait operation timed out
Cause

Retention Policy configured is attempting to delete too much data at once resulting in SQL timeout error.
Résolution

Double the delete age of the policy and try to run the Retention Policy Editor
Reduce by half after it is successful.
For Example: If the policy is to remove all the item less than 1 year , try to change it to 2 years and once completed, tried to change back to 1 year again.
