Ensure there is no firewall blocking port 15600, either on the AA server or between the AA server and the console machines. Use telnet to confirm 15600 is available and listening.
Confirm the Active Administrator Foundation Service service account is a member of the local Administrators group on the AA server:
- Open the AA Server Manager from the Start Screen
- Click the Set Account button next to Set AFS and ADS Startup Account
- Note the domain account shown for the User name and click Cancel
- Confirm that this domain account is a member of the Local Administrators group on the AA server
Check that the Active Administrator Foundation Service is running. Try restarting the service and/or AA server.
On the AA server open an elevated command prompt and run the following command:
netstat -anb >ports.txt
Open the ports.txt file that is created and search for 15600. Check to see if the AFSService.exe is assigned the port. If there is another service using port 15600 either change the port that the other service is using or change the port used by the AFS service. The AFS port can be changed in the AA Server Manager:
- Open the AA Serer Manager
- Enter an unused port number for 'Foundation Service Port Number' and click Set AFS Port
- The AFS service will restart. Once it does run netstat again to confirm that the afsservice.exe is listening on the new port
- Open the AA Console
- You will most likely see the same error again and when you click OK the 'Set Active Administrator Server' screen should open
- Enter the new port number and click OK to try and connect
- Repeat steps 4-6 on any other machine where the AA Console is installed
