After an application server (e.g. Tomcat) restart the JMX agent no longer collects any metrics. The only error in the agent log is similar to:
ERROR [Quartz-4543] com.quest.glue.core.agent.scheduler.CollectorCallback - An unexpected error occurred which may cause undesired behavior. You may want to contact Quest Software customer support if you see this error again: An Error occurred while invoking collection method jvmVolatileCollection on ScheduleTask Group JMXAgent/5.7.4/JMXAgent/JMXAgent_on_XXXXX-Collector
java.lang.reflect.InvocationTargetException

Caused by: java.lang.NullPointerException
There are a number of product defects associated with with this type of error:
JMX-148
JMX-167
JMX-422
- Upgrade the JMX cartridge agent to at least 5.7.3 Defect JMX-148 and JMX-167 are resolved in this release.
- If there problem still occurs after the above upgrade then we may be looking at defect JMX-422. A patch is available for this issue
Deployment the patched cartridge and then recreate the agents.
