Can we run a 32-bit FglAM, required for FTR, on the same machine concurrently as our pre-existing 64-bit FglAM? Can we run both concurrently as services?
The release notes say:
"Using the Foglight Agent Manager on 32- or 64-bit systems:
The Foglight Transaction Recorder and Player are supported on both 32- and 64-bit systems. The Foglight Transaction Player runs on 64-bit systems only if the 32-bit version of Foglight Agent Manager is installed."
So install a 32-bit FglAM, even if the hardware is 64-bit and the FMS installed is the 64-bit software version. The 64-bit software version of the FMS will automatically silently install a 64-bit Fglam. But for FTR, you'll need to explicitly install a 32-bit FglAM.
A 32-bit and a 64-bit FglAM can be installed and run concurrently on the same machine. This is important to know because you may have other Foglight agents that require the 64-bit FglAM already installed and running on that same machine. You would be able to continue to use them.
It is likely possible to run both FglAMs concurrently as a service (https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/251192) but it is complicated because both FglAM services would be given the same service name upon creation and so you'd have a duplicate. Though it appears possible to change the name of one of the services but that is outside the scope of Quest Software Technical Support to assist with.
