dotNETAgent shows broken in Agent Status and agent is not installed on host.
Checked the msi install logs, but none were created. Noticed that there was a message that it was checking for the .NET Management.lnk file but it did not exist. We ran Foglight Agent Manager in debug (-Dquest.debug=2) on host to figure out why the installation was not running.
Customer had uninstalled the Foglight for .NET 5.6.5 agent and were attempting to reinstall it. Since the uninstall was not successful and they had attempted to manually uninstall the product, there was a lingering registry key that tricked our dotNETAgent to think the Foglight for .NET software was already installed on the system. (HKLM\Software\Quest Software\Foglight for .NET\FLDNAgent) On agent startup it performed a second check before activating the agent to see if the link file was there and that's why without debug we only saw the error that the lnk file was not found and failed to start agent.
If you have the same problem perform the following steps:
1. We do recommend backing up your windows registry before making any changes.
2. Remove the HKLM\Software\Quest Software\Foglight for .NET\FLDNAgent entry, and agent installation
3. Activate the agent
