WORKAROUND:
1. Setting the Content-Type to “text/html” specifically for IE
2. Configure IE8 to display application/json in the browser window by updating the registry

Additional Information
The official MIME type for JSON text is "application/json". The unofficial MIME type "text/json" or the content-type "text/javascript". However, IE does not support those JSON MIME type like "application/json".
