Differences between alarms in agents dashboard and main alarms dashboard
Description
There are a large numbers of differences related to alarms between the main alarms dashboard and the alarm data displayed in the agents dashboard. Why is this?
Resolution
The internal working of the two dashboards and the way they behave is different in relation to the type of queries they run and in unison the data they retrieve
The Alarms columns in the agents section do not display the existing alarms. The inconsistency between the alarms shown in “Alarms” and “Agents” dashboard is because they use different alarm queries. For “Agents” dashboard, it retrieves alarms that under Host/aggregateAlarms for each host object, which will omit the alarms whose scope object is not contained by a Host object. For example, some DBO alarms, AD/EXC alarms.
Only Warnning alarms are displayed. The host nodes display alarms according to Host/aggregateAlarms. For agent nodes(the sub-node), it is Host/agents/aggregateAlarms. The table at the bottom of the dashboard displays the alarms in all host nodes.
The problem here is similar to the one above. You will find that there are critical alarms in sub-nodes but the host node still displays as green. These critical alarms are related to the rules like "Agent Health State", "Idle Agent", whose scope are the types that won't report their alarms to their parent topology.
List of alarms neither matches "Alarm Filter Applied" nor host filter. For the host filter: The alarms table will not get updated until you click on the host node to make it selected (there is a option indicator in the name column).
