When a MySQL SQL Dump takes place, vFoglight automatically produces thread dumps and timeouts are observed within the Foglight Console. When looking through the Foglight Performance Report, it indicates that there are no JDBC/managed connections available for the Foglight Management Server (FMS) during the time the SQL Dump takes place (on a consistently daily basis).
Is the MySQL SQL Dump the cause of these thread dumps and timeouts within the Foglight Console?
Once a MySQL SQL Dump takes place, it locks the entire MySQL Database (DB), which Foglight needs in order to function.
As a workaround, it is recommended to use a Hotbackup Tool, for example, InnoDB Hot Backup (http://www.innodb.com/wp/products/hot-backup). This way the entire DB will not be locked when a DB backup is taking place, which will enable Foglight to carry on functioning without any major problems.
