1. ManagementServer_DateTime_00x.log - this logs everything that is happening on the FMS. Extensive logging info goes here if FMS is in debug mode - see KB ID 41911.
2. ManagementServer_DateTime_00x.pslog - this log only gets created when FMS debug is turned on - see KB ID 41911. The pslog is in compressed format and is not 'text readable'. Quest develpment can read these log files but the tools to do so are Quest internal only tools.
3. failed-startup-DateTime.log - failed startups of FMS
4. DatabaseUpgrade_DateTime.log - foglight database upgrades that have occured.
At what size does the ManagementServer.log roll over at? Is this configurable?
The MangementServer.log rolls over at 20mb by default. To configure, change the maxFileSize parameter in the log.config file:
FMS_Home\config\log.config
Target.FILE.maxFileSize = 20000000;
(20000000 is 20mb)
Note that there are other parameters in log.config used to configure the operation of the log files, for example:
Target.SERIALIZED_FILE.maxRolloverCount = 10;
How many old log files to retain when the maximum log file size has been reached and a new one is opened. This means that the FMS keeps up to 10 log files as they roll over ; these 10 files will be counted as ONE log file group.
-1 means infinite. Defaults to 50.
Target.SERIALIZED_FILE.maxSetCount = 3;
How many sets of old log file groups should be retained on startup.
