Foglight is monitoring our current production database using a user id with the Foglight schema and created with the default oracle profile. We are planning to change the Oracle default_profile limitations and would like to know what are the Foglight database user requirements in a monitored database as so not to impact database collection.
These are the parameters for database profiles we are trying to change.
CPU_PER_SESSION
PRIVATE_SGA
LOGICAL_READS_PER_SESSION
SESSIONS_PER_USER
CONNECT_TIME
You should take into consideration that changing these parameters on a session level can lead to disconnection of Foglight sessions in the middle of data collection, the agent will reconnect and will continue working, but the disconnect will cause to a loss of data (gaps in charts, less accurate averages, etc.).
What you can do is use Foglight collections timeout instead. This way you can configure specific timeout for each collection (default is 60 sec) after which the session is automatically disconnected.
Information on the collection settings can be found on the online documentation.
In the documentation navigation, go to Database Cartridges --> Managing Oracle Database Systems Hardware Sizing --> Tuning Foglight for Oracle --> Adjusting the Collection and Display Settings --> Adjusting Collection Settings
From within the FMS, select the checkbox for the database in the database dashboard, press administer agents, and then in global administration, choose the collection frequencies.
